MacBook Air 13", 2017 as per above, is accurate ? If Yes, 5 year old battery and all sorts of thing are bound to happen. Should I be worried? What is the cause of this? has this happened before? And then it slowly stops charging the battery. I also noticed in coconut battery when the charge is at 99%, it stops charging for a minute then goes to 100% full charge after. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is this trickle charging? I'm guessing it could be related to the slightly inaccurate menu bar percentage meter showing 100% even when it is a bit lower thus refusing to charge itself back to 100% due to it not being 99% or lower? Is the battery being used even when plugged in? Comparing it to a coconut battery, the percentage in the menu bar is around 5% higher than coconut battery shows, which seems to be the accurate one.Īnother thing I noticed, when the percentage bar shows 100% fully charged, and the charge LED turning green, while coconut battery showing 95%+ and still charging, it charges a bit slower than the speed of charge from 90%-100%, the moment the batter percentage bar turns 100% (inaccurate it might seem) the charging speed that goes from 95% - 100% in coconut battery is slower.Īnother thing I noticed that when the battery is fully charged according to coconut battery When I do something resource intensive, the battery percentage drops slowly, (I don't know how much, in what time since I didn't record it, but I do know that it drops) even with the MacBook plugged in, and system report shows that it is fully charged and not charging, but coconut battery shows lower than 100% remaining charge but it is using adapter power instead of battery. Maybe is could be macOS keeping my battery charged to full capacity? Or maybe it could be related to the inaccurate battery meter in the menu bar not reading that it is actually below 100%?ĪFAIK, My battery percentage meter in the menu bar seems to be inaccurate. I just want to know if what I'm observing is expected behavior or just some inaccuracy in the battery reading. With 1270 cycles, the coconut battery shows around 82% of its remaining capacity. You probably already noticed it, but I will point it out anyway. What if I don't mind the capacity being around 80% at 1000 cycles? Do I still need to replace it? My battery, for being more than a thousand cycles is, considered broken or "used up"? Unless my charge cycle count is related to my issue, I would want to know if that is the case. Hm, I knew that you would obviously point that out.
